KUALA LUMPUR: The UM Post, an online newsletter produced by students of the University of Malaya, is finally up and running.

The online newsletter is built and handled by eleven undergraduates from the University of Malaya, and serves as the varsity’s very own source for the latest news, gossip, and events in and about town.

The students in charge are all taking part in a Journalism course, and the material in the newsletter will be used by the course instructor, Mr Looi Siew Teip, to evaluate the students’ performances.

‘We do hope that people other than our lecturers will read the newsletter,’ says Aisya Shurfa, a sub-editor along with Rachael Wong. ‘We promise to deliver students from UM and other universities throughout Malaysia the news that are relevant to them.’

‘The newsletter is still in its early stages, but hopefully it will be fully operational by the end of August,’ she adds.
